Arriving Thursday Sept 3 or Friday Sept 4:

1) Airport Shuttles (which also depart from downtown Seattle) There are two airport shuttles that go from the airport, through downtown Seattle, and to Port Townsend. Rocket Bus leaves SeaTac five times per day and will take you wherever you need to go, in Port Townsend, for $98 per person. Reservation required. Dungeness Lines runs twice a day, for $38 per person, but drops you off on the edge of town, so let Jill or Carlo know when you’ll be arriving, so we can fetch you.

2) Public Transit

Ferry + Bus Option 1:From downtown Seattle (Seattle Pier 50), take the Kitsap Fast Ferry (passenger ferry) to Kingston. From there, take the #14 Express Bus to Port Townsend (free). The #14 only leaves three times a day, so time your arrival in Kingston to sync up with the bus.

Ferry + Bus Option 2: From downtown Seattle (Colman Dock) walk onto the Bainbridge car ferry. After exiting the ferry, catch the 390 bus to North Viking Transit Center. From there, take the #7 Jefferson Transit to downtown Port Townsend (free). It only leaves five times a day, so time your arrival in Bainbridge to sync up with the bus.

3)Stay in Seattle until Saturday morning. If you stay in a hotel close to the ferry terminal, you can just walk onto the ferry Saturday morning and our shuttle will bring you to the wedding (see instructions below).

Arriving Saturday September 5th:

The best (and only) way to get to the wedding on time, without a car, on Saturday, is to take the shuttle we’ve arranged from the Bainbridge Ferry Terminal. So easy. Walk onto the 10:40AM Bainbridge Ferry from Colman Dock, in downtown Seattle. When you disembark the ferry, the shuttle will be waiting for you and will drive directly to the wedding.

You should be at the Colman Dock ferry terminal by 10:15am to be sure you’ll get on the ferry on time. Do not plan on parking downtown. Take a rideshare or light rail to Colman Dock. If you are new to the ferries, or if you tend to be late, get on the 9:35AM ferry. There’s a cafe, on the other side, at the Bainbridge Ferry Terminal, where you can drink a coffee or mimosa and have a snack while you wait. If the 10:40 ferry is running late, the shuttle bus will wait until it arrives. But if you miss the 10:40 ferry, you will miss the shuttle, and there is no way to get from Bainbridge to the wedding on time after that.

Benefits of Shuttle Bus:

  • Guests can walk onto the ferry in downtown Seattle (cheaper and no waiting)

  • Out of town guests don’t have to rent a car

  • Guests save on ferry fares and gas

  • Anyone can indulge at the party without worrying about driving

  • Guests can avoid the Labor Day impacts on the ferries (long wait times, late ferries)

Returning to Seattle after the wedding:

We have a shuttle going back to the Bainbridge Ferry on Sunday, Sept 6th, mid-day. That should get to the Bainbridge ferry no later than 3:30pm.

If you need to leave Port Townsend earlier than that, Rocket Transportation goes to the airport by way of Seattle, five times a day (reservation required).

And we’ll have a carpool sign-up sheet at the wedding party for people driving back to Seattle.

If you plan to use either of the shuttles we have arranged, let us know as soon as possible, so we can be sure to have a big enough van or bus.

Getting around Port Townsend w/out a car:

Word has it UBER now works in Port Townsend. We haven’t tested that claim.

There is a free bus that runs between Fort Worden, Uptown, Downtown, and the Transit Center / Park & Ride, once an hour. It leaves from in front of the park office at Fort Worden.

You can rent a bike for under $50/day at the PT Cyclery. Port Townsend is small. You can ride a bike between Fort Worden and downtown in about 15 minutes.
